媒介与女性教席主持人刘利群教授的发言



尊敬的各位领导、各位来宾，大家好！
　　感谢刘校长的提名，感谢青岛泰之先生的首肯，感谢联合国教科文组织北京办事处信息传播项目官员丹娜女士和教科文组织中国全委会刘疆处长的辛勤工作，感谢我的工作团队——媒介与女性研究中心的同事们，感谢大家的信任。我想，担任教科文组织认可的教席主持人不仅仅是我个人的荣誉，更是表明了教科文组织对我校国际学术地位的充分肯定，显示出教科文组织对我校未来发展充满信心。
　　我所服务的中国传媒大学有着丰富的媒介与女性研究的学术资源和社会资源。我校校长刘继南教授是教育部仅有的两位女校长之一，她于去年获得了世界大学校长联合会颁发的杰出成就奖，我校所取得的学术成就和所作出的社会贡献是今天我校获得教席的坚实基础。
　　教席的建立首先是一份责任。中国是一个以男女平等为基本国策的媒介大国，如何在理论研究和媒介实践中促进和提高妇女对媒介的拥有量，影响力和决策力，促进社会性别意识主流化，既是摆在我们面前需要思考和探索的重大命题；也是教席必须承担的义不容辞的责任。
　　教席的建立还为我们提供了一个学术化、多元化、国际化的开放平台。教席运行依托我校“媒介与女性研究中心”，本中心荣幸的邀请到了刘校长为首席学术顾问，还聘请了了刘伯红教授、曹璐教授和柯惠新教授等知名学者为学术顾问，中心已确定招收“媒介与女性”方向硕士研究生。这些丰富的学术资源必将有力的保障教席项目的顺利开展。
　　教席的建立更意味着一种使命。现代社会中，社会性别的和谐发展已经成为衡量社会进步与文明的重要指标。2000年联合国千年首脑会议签署了《千年宣言》，将促进性别平等、赋予妇女权利列为千年发展目标的重要内容。媒介作为社会文化传播的重要载体，对于性别的平等与发展有着重要的作用力和影响力。因此，教席的建立为我们的具体研究工作赋予了新的内涵，使之和人类社会的和谐发展相连，使我们有幸成为构建两性和谐社会的推动者和实践者。
　　2005年8月29日，胡锦涛主席在“纪念第四届世界妇女大会十周年会议”的讲话中指出：“妇女是创造人类文明的一支伟大力量。” “合作是世界妇女事业发展的重要途径。”在今后教席工作的开展中，我决心带领媒介与女性研究团队，在教科文组织的指导下，在中国教科文组织全委会和学校的领导下，在各位领导和嘉宾的支持下，为将教席建设成高质量高水平的学术重镇，为促进媒介与女性和谐关系的发展，而做出新的积极的贡献。

Speech on the Signing Ceremony of UNESCO-CUC Chair on Media and Gender

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen，

I appreciate President Liu’s nominating, Mr.Osima’s approval,the great efforts of Mrs. Dana Ziyasheva, Adviser for Communication and Information UNESCO Beijing Office, and Mr.Liujiang, Director from Chinese National Commission for UNESCO.I also express my sincere gratitude to the cooperation of my team-----Media and Gender Institute, and to the trust from all of you.To me, UNESCO’s Chair holder is a great honor, not only for me, but also for my university. It reflected UNESCO’s recognition of CUC’s international academic status and confidence of the future.

CUC is rich in academic and social resources of media and gender studies. Our president has been awarded as Outstanding University President granted by IAUP, International Association of University Presidents. The academic achievements and the dedication to society have provided a solid basis for becoming UNESCO Chair.

The establishment of the UNESCO Chair, first means responsibility. China is a big media consuming country with men and women being equal as the basic national policy. How to promote women’s consuming media power, women’s influence and decision making, how to develop mainstreaming gender awareness, are not only academic project researched by the Chair, but also a responsibility which the Chair should shoulder.

The set-up of UNESCO Chair, also has provided us with an open, academic and international platform. The Chair will operate based on CUC’s Media and Gender Research Center. President Liu is the chief academic advisor, other famous scholars , like Professor Liu Bohong, Cao Lu, Ke Huixin are also our academic counselors. The center will enroll graduate students majored in media and gender. All these abundant academic resources will guarantee the successful operation of the Chair.

The establishment of the Chair even more means a mission. In modern society, the harmonious development of between two sex has become an important guideline to measure the social progress and culture development. Gender equality and empower women are the key contents of millennium goals. Media, as the important carrier of a society’s communication, has great impacts on gender equality and development. Hence, the establishment of the chair has connected our specific work with the development of the harmonious society, and has made us becoming the promoter of a harmonious society for both genders.

On August 29, 2005, President Hu Jintao deliver a speech on Beijing plus 10 Conference, he pointed out that “Women is a great force of creating civilization.”“Cooperation is an important approach to the world women career.” In the Chair’s future work, under the guidance of the UNESCO, UNESCO Chinese Commission, and the support of the University’s leaders and guests, I will lead media and gender research team to make the Chair an important academic place with high quality, and contribute for the development of media and women harmonious relation to the utmost.
